Posted on 13th February 2018 by CE Team

Our cottages located in Windermere and Keswick are the perfect accommodation option for families and older groups wanting to experience outdoor activities in the Lake District. The picturesque beauty of the English countryside is not to be missed and you can experience nostalgia or excitement. The Lakes District was made famous in the tale of Peter Rabbit written in 1902. There is also a new Peter Rabbit comedy featuring James Corden that is due for release. The outdoor activities in Lake District and beautiful scenery makes this area the perfect place for bonding with family enjoying the scenery and looking for creative inspiration.

Walker’s paradise in Keswick

Keswick is situated to the north of the Lakes District and offers scenic walks at all levels of difficulty. It is the perfect place for contemplation and finding some creative inspiration. Climbers, artists, writers, poets, painters and anyone who enjoys the outdoors can be seen wandering around the village. Keswick offers casual country strolls and scenic views of Friar’s Crag to mountainous and challenging hikes at Siddaw and Catbells Crags. There are also plenty of art galleries, shops, cafes restaurants, and, pubs nearby. Our cottages in Keswick are a clean, convenient, and cosy place to return to after a hard day of walking or sight seeing.

The wonders of Windermere

Windermere is another highly recommended place to visit and is in the South Lake area of the Lakes District. Windermere Lake is a short bus or taxi ride from Windermere train station. The village has a supermarket, shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Windermere Lake is one of the most splendid in the whole Lakes District. Visitors can do many waterports on the lake with an instructor. Equipment is provided and it is fun and safe family activity for all ages. There is also the family friendly Treetop Trek at Brohole. It is a challenging ropes course for kids and adults alike.

Windermere is Just the Start

The most popular activity is to take a ferry across the lake to Ambleside. It is a short ferry ride from Windermere and is a busy town with shops, places to eat and relax. You can also buy something to remember your Lakes District experience. Ambleside is also the start and finish for many walks.

Beatrix Potter Tale

The Peter Rabbit movie was inspired by many lush surroundings of Windermere and Ambleside. There are plenty of opportunities to have a joke about Tiggy Winkle, Squirrel Nutkin, Peter, Benjamin, Flopsy and the gang as you take some down time at our cottages in Widermere. The cottages will complement your Peter Rabbit itinerary and offer an excellent place to relax and unwind after a day on the lake or experiencing some family time.
