Scenic dog walks across North Yorkshire and the North York Moors

Posted on 27th April 2017 by CE Team

The North Yorkshire region is a wonderful place for a short break with the whole family, including your four-legged friends! If you are staying in one of our cozy cottages in North Yorkshire and in this case, in one of our popular dog-friendly cottages in Yorkshire, the wonder of nature is right on your doorstep, from the wild North York Moors to the dramatic coastline.

Boasting beautiful scenery, this lovely area of the country is a fabulous place to enjoy scenic dog-friendly walks, where children and pets alike can blow off the cobwebs and enjoy the fresh air!

Take A Seaside Stroll

Dogs love running on the sand, so taking a walk along the beach from Sandsend to Whitby is a great choice. This is an ideal walk for families with children as it offers plenty of opportunities for paddling in the sea, skimming stones and building sandcastles along the way. Between October and April furry friends are allowed along the entire length of the beach, so you can make the most of a bracing day out!

A Walk With A View

Give the dogs plenty of exercise while enjoying amazing views over the coastline at Robin Hood’s Bay. With its easy-to-follow, wide footpath, this coastal walk boasts a spectacular panorama over Ravenscar and the North Sea and ends up in the heart of historic Robin Hood’s Bay where you can enjoy a well earned pint!

Take A Walk On The Wild Side

Let your pooch off the leash and explore the wild tracks and grassy paths of Dalby Forest and the Bridestones. Enjoy the freedom of the open countryside, admire stunning views over the North York Moors and see the amazing rock formations that date back 150 million years.

Take A Woodland Trail

The 5.5 mile-long Raincliffe Woods circular walk meanders peacefully through ancient woodland – a paradise for dogs and dog-lovers alike. Described as “the creme de la creme of woodland” by the Woodland Trust, Raincliffe Woods is a wonderful place to discover beautiful wildflowers and native trees, and is a peaceful and natural place to explore.

A Walk For All Weathers

We all know that the British weather often fails to co-operate, but luckily the walk from Levisham to Newton Dale is perfect come rain or shine thanks to its sheltered paths and many stopping off points. Offering dramatic views, this walk is also ideal for water-loving pooches as they can take a dip in Levisham Beck.
