In the area

Walk or cycle the surrounding countryside, explore the ancient abbey and make sure to try out some of the region’s most popular restaurants, pubs and cafes, which include the Magpie Cafe, Humble Pie’n’Mash, Rusty Shears Tearoom and Ditto Restaurant.

A little further afield you can explore a whole host of traditional towns and villages, such as Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend and Staithes. While Scarborough is only 20 miles away and you can even reach York within the hour.

Closer to home a trip on the Bark Endeavour is more then just a simple pleasure cruise. Enjoy stunning views of the coastline, with it’s fascinating geological features and wealth of fossils and minerals, including the wonderful Whitby Jet. You can also spot a rich variety of wildlife, such as many different types of sea bird, seals, and, on occasion, porpoise, dolphins and whales.
