Of course, you can explore further afield. With Whinlatter, England’s only true mountain forest and the northern and eastern slopes of Skiddaw just a short hop away and 4000-year old Castlerigg Stone Circle set on a hilltop a mile east of town.

For cyclists and walkers, Catbells is a short, sharp, steep climb richly rewarded by the stunning views of lush valleys, while Buttermere is dominated by two spectacular panoramas: the famous vista of the fells seen over Crummock Water and the dramatic rocky buttress of Grasmoor End, looming over the northern end of the lake.  If you want to keep things simple, Hope Park is just minutes from the doorstep.

Extremely well presented and comfortable cottage. The attention to detail was second to none and the location is perfect for access to local attractions - yet far enough away to be quiet
