Oak Cottage was formerly a working livestock barn and is now home to a delightful cottage for 4 on the edge of the North Yorks Moors and Coast, set between the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough.
With an upside-down approach (bedrooms downstairs, living area up top), this property has been restored to the highest standard using traditional building techniques and every which way you gaze, you’re reminded of the serenity of the surrounding area.
Whether you plan to explore the neighbouring countryside and higgledy-piggledy shorelines, or stay closer to home on the Thirley Cotes farm estate (with its 21 acres of grounds and woodland), you’ll have the pleasure of returning to the most tranquil of hideaways.
There are hikes and trails for all abilities accessible from the doorstep and inside, 2 spacious bedrooms feature on the ground floor of the property. While above, you’ll find an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining space with original vaulted beam ceilings and underfloor Air Source heating.
The private hot tub and enclosed terrace (complete with Teak furniture and a Weber BBQ) are just perfect for relaxing with a glass or two of something bubbling and guests are also granted access to a number of shared amenities, including an outdoor children’s play area and small games room.
