Countryside meets coast at Grade II listed Thirley Cotes Farm. A collection of 8 Georgian self catering cottages sleeping 2 – 42 and perched on the edge of the North Yorkshire Coast and Moors, just a short drive from the seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.
Tucked away down a meandering country lane, this blissful retreat is surrounded by stunning views of rolling countryside and offers easy access to excellent walking and cycling routes from the doorstep. The surrounding 21 acres are the pièce de résistance of this quintessentially country hideaway and private hot tubs are perfect for whiling away an afternoon alfresco.

Set in a prominent position in Harwood Dale, Thirley Cotes Farm was brought back to its original beauty and taken to the next level by our team of architects, designers and talented creative professionals who were involved at every stage. After all, who wants to settle for off-the-shelf, when you can experience off-the-charts.
Each of the Yorkshire stone cottages has been designed to meet the demands of modern life. With beautiful open plan living spaces and hand built enclosed gardens and we have worked hard to retain many of the original features.
Whether you’re in need of a romantic getaway for two or enough space for all the family, explore our collection of cottages at Thirley Cotes Farm – we have just the place for you.

It goes without saying that North Yorkshire is a walker’s paradise, thanks to its world-famous wild moorlands and you’re ideally positioned to explore Scarborough and the Captain Cook’s town of Whitby – the perfect day out for families or couples looking to sample the famous fish and chips.

The North York Moors is a special place – forged by nature, shaped over generations and filled with stunning scenery to explore. Hiking trails are abundant (many of them leading up mountains and along streams) and the most dramatic landscapes feature cascading waterfalls that plummet down cliff faces, providing perfect photo opportunities.
Thirley Cotes Farm is the perfect base for an adventure-fuelled North Yorkshire holiday and to ensure our guests don’t waste a second, we’ve handpicked a handy in-cottage guide to the best walking, cycling, running, climbing and exploring in the region. Offering an added touch of indulgence, we also prepare personalised welcome packs full of local produce and don’t worry about those muddy paws – all our cottages are pet friendly.

As an owner of an electric car or a plug-in hybrid, you want the peace of mind that you can recharge your car easily and safely when on holiday. At Thirley Cotes Farm we offer 2 free electric car charging points, helping to ensure your holiday is as eco-friendly as possible and work hard to protect our wild spaces and residents, which includes moles, badgers, sheep and a wealth of flora and fauna. We’re also home to a family of Barn Owls and they’re a hoot.

We are proud to say that all of our properties have received a 4 or 5-star rating from Visit England and some of our newest retreats, including Mulberry, Walnut and Pear Tree Cottage can be found here at Thirley Cotes Farm on the North Yorkshire Coast. Please do not hesitate to connect with us. We’re here to make sure you get the most out of your stay and look forward to welcoming you on an escape to somewhere special.
