Walnut is the newest addition to the Thirley Cotes Farm estate (located in the hamlet of Harwood Dale, between Scarborough and Whitby) and part of a collection of 8 Grade II listed cottages.

This home-from-home for 4 is set on one level, making it ideal for little ones/guests with limited mobility and the open plan living area and fabulous outdoor space (complete with private hot tub) invites you and your loved ones to spend quality time together.

Inside, you’ll find country-chic bedrooms and light and airy living spaces featuring bronze mood lighting, underfloor heating throughout and wood burning stove.

Accommodation

Walnut Cottage sleeps 4 across 2 en-suite bedrooms and features an open plan living area and adjoining kitchen/dining space, leading through floor-to-ceiling French windows to the outdoor patio (complete with Teak furniture, landscaped garden and private hot tub). All fuel, power and bed linen are included, as well as towels, WiFi and a welcome pack for you and your pooch.

Walnut’s living space comes complete with a wood burning stove, underfloor heating, limestone flooring, plush seating, adjustable mood lighting and bags of charm – perfect for relaxing together after a busy day exploring. If you want to escape, there’s also a 46” Smart TV and iPod docking station

Cooking is a delight in this hand built kitchen, complete with all the equipment you’ll need to magic up delicious dishes throughout your stay. Including an electric oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine

Dining Area

Next to the kitchen you’ll find an oak dining table seating four, while on warmer days, you’ll want to make the most of dining al fresco on the private patio

Master Bedroom

The stunning en-suite master bedroom comes complete with a king sized bed, dressing table, smart TV, hair dryer and plenty of storage space, as well as a bath with overhead shower, wash basin and WC

The enclosed stone garden is made up of a manicured lawn and sun-soaked terrace and home to a private hot tub, outdoor dining table with seating for 4 and Weber BBQ. The grounds are yours to explore and showcase a fenced pond, woodland walks and lots of local wildlife (keep an eye out for our resident Barn Owls). Little ones will love the on-site playground and indoor games room and four-legged companions will enjoy exploring the neighbouring North York Moors and Coast.

Walnut Cottage is a wonderfully wild self-catering retreat nestled in the sleepy village of Harwood Dale, just a short drive from Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey and Flamborough and a stone’s throw from the seaside town of Scarborough.

Harwood Dale Forest is well worth exploring to experience the beauty of the surrounding scenery and offers lots of outdoor activities, including water sports, cycling and fishing.

A trip on the North Yorks Moors Railway provides an alternative way to discover this stunning corner of the country and there’s plenty to see and do either end. Beautiful cottage - great conversion! Gorgeous peaceful surroundings and we would love to come back. Our top places to go were:
Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby is nice to see too... had great fish and chips in Trenchers restaurant. Staithes is worth a visit. Locally we had lovely pub grub in the Three Jolly Sailors (dog friendly) and also The Hart Inn at Sandsend also dog friendly. Thank you Amanda & Jenny for all your help!
P.S. How could I forget to mention the fantastic hot tub.

Beautiful cottage. We loved the hot tub and there were plenty of great walks for Freddie through local forests and on nearby beaches. Great shopping at York Retail Outlet. Had a relaxing holiday complete with great food, wine and company. Despite a few teething problems with the heating (which was dealt with very quickly by Amanda and the team - who were very friendly and approachable) we will be coming back with a few more people. Great base for everyone whether you want peace and quiet or to explore. See you soon.
