Overview

Mulberry Cottage sleeps 6 and is part of a collection of Grade II listed holiday cottages near the North Yorkshire village of Harwood Dale, on the edge of the North York Moors, between Scarborough and Whitby.

A big and beautiful retreat, this 18th century barn conversion is ideal for families and group celebrations and benefits from plenty of space for socialising both inside and out.

As well as a private hot tub and enclosed garden with patio terrace, perfect for spending an afternoon with a glass of something sparkling in hand.

The private hot tub is for exclusive use and subject to an optional heating and caretaking charge of £75 for the entirety of your stay.

Accommodation

Mulberry Cottage features 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms all on one level, with an open plan living entrance and dining table seating 6 (flowing through to the conservatory, lounge and kitchen offset).

You can enjoy fabulous views from this cottage, which is kept toasty by AirSource pumps, underfloor heating throughout and a log burner in the lounge.

All fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included, as well as WiFi and a travel cot and high chair can be provided on request.

The enclosed garden comes complete with Teak furniture and seating for 6, as well as a patio terrace with private hot tub.

Beautifully furnished with two leather sofas and a single chair, multi fuel burning stove, 46″ Smart TV, DVD Player, radio, iPod docking station and plush furniture and furnishings throughout

The kitchen comes complete with table and chairs for 6, quartz polished worktops and all the usual mod cons, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine

Dining Area

Features an oak table and seating for 6 and sits in the entrance to the property, connecting to the south-facing conservatory (where you’ll find the best seats in the house)

The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, dressing table, chest of drawers, plenty of storage space, Smart TV and en-suite with bathtub, overhead shower, WC, wash basin and towel rail

Double Bedroom

The second bedroom offers a double bed, wardrobe, Smart TV, dressing table and en-suite shower room with wash basin, heated towel rail and WC

Twin Bedroom

There’s an additional small en-suite twin bedroom with 2ft 6″ single beds and en-suite shower room with heated towel rail, wash basin and WC

There is also a shared picnic lawn and woodland accessible to all the Thirley Cotes cottages, which is ideal for four-legged family members (not to mention the neighbouring North York Moors and Coast).

If relaxation is top of the agenda, look no further than the private hot tub and there’s plenty to keep little ones occupied, from the outdoor playground and games room, complete with pool table and air hockey, to the fenced wildlife pond nearby. Please note that children must be supervised at all times.

Whitby Abbey Ruins

On the doorstep of this fabulous self-catering cottage sits 36 miles of breath-taking coastline (home to some of the UK’s best beaches) and wilds of the North York Moors.

Find yourself strolling along sandy seashores, spotting nesting puffins or even paying a visit to the grave of Bram Stoker’s Dracula atop Whitby’s Medieval Abbey. We’re also only a short drive from the traditional seaside towns and villages of Scarborough, Flamborough, Filey and Robin Hood’s Bay.

There are plenty of outdoor activities and attractions for all ages and abilities close by, including Broxa and Harwood Dale Forest (with their many tracks and trails), Go Ape Tree and Segway adventures, Eden Camp museum, Flamingo Land Zoo and Theme Park and the beautiful City of York, which is around 1 hour away.

We've all had a brilliant week here. Visited waterfall and tearoom at Falling Foss. Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit as is the Abbey at Whitby. Children and Elsie loved the beaches at Scarborough and Filey. Saw dolphins at Scarborough. Peasholm Park, kids loved feeding the squirrels by hand. Brytherstones and Three Jolly Sailors pubs both serve lovely food and dog friendly. Staff are nce and helpful. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your wonderful cottage. We will return.

Can't fault Thirley Cotes. Particularly helpful with re-arranged bookings due to covid restrictions. Would recommend Bempton Cliffs for bird fans, The Bull at Gristhorpe, The Cove at Robin Hoods Bay, Papa's fish & chips at Whitby and The Bryherstones Inn at Cloughton. Enjoyed watching the wrens and pheasant in the garden at the beginning of the day.
